Involved in IT and Mobile Communications since 1983, and after a career in financial services and software solutions, became an early mover in 'cellular' phone telephony in 1987.
Somewhat of a pioneer in the Industry, opening retail shops in the late 80s, before focusing on Distribution with official status for Orange and BT Mobile (now O2), through the 90s.
A former director of the Federation of Communications Services (FCS), the mobile Industry trade body also responsible for the Crime Prevention Scheme. He was also the Chairman of the Distributor Group.
In 1997, a first mover in eCommerce solutions with an online mobile phone shop and white label Application Service Provision. This Mobile News Award winning service (1999), provided an end-to-end fulfilment service for the Orange Network website for 3 years (winner best network ecommerce solution GSMA Mobile World Expo, Geneva 2001), and supplied the shopping basket and check out for the One2One (then T-Mobile, now EE) website.
In the late 90's, the business was the first partner and user of the Microsoft eCommerce solution (Siteserver) in the UK, a Visa approved Payment Service Provider, a business credit report service, plus client web and applications development. In addition, the first 'design and build' your own imported car online, and touch screen kiosk for online catalogue browsing and etop-up voucher delivery in store. Also designed the market leading Barclays Merchant Services online ePDQ system, invented the use of the CV2 security check on the back of credit cards in 1998 and co-wrote the VISA UK white paper which led to the interim AIS Security standards!
As the first independent distributor in the field of retailer mobile 'category management', opening up accounts like Bookers, Toys R Us, Somerfields, Tiny Computers, MSN ........... with ecommerce and top-up solutions.
Troubleshooting for a major mobile phone distributor (£150m turnover) and managing 150 staff, and developing a mobile division for a leading telecoms distributor, working on accounts such as Amazon, Choices, Bid-Up TV, QVC, WH Smith and Play.com.
For four years collaborating with Phones International Group (principle business of Peter Jones of BBC's - Dragon's Den), on a very successful pay as you go airtime SIM card distribution project. Subsequently some 4 million SIM cards distributed to all sectors including high street retailers, corner shops, cash & carry, Internet etc.
Continuing projects include Machine to Machine (M2M - or often called Internet of Things - IOT) communication solutions focused on security management and Peer To Peer (P2P) payments.
Lately, the business is involved in the growing market of Electronic Cigarette or Vaping industry and the delivery of retail and wholesale solutions.
